Description

PrimaLuna EVO 300 Hybrid Integrated Amplifier

The EVO 300 Hybrid combines the natural warmth and texture of tubes with the power and control of solid-state amplification. Its fully dual-mono design, sophisticated power supplies and premium components deliver high fidelity, wide bandwidth and exceptionally low noise.

All-Tube Preamplifier Stage

Based on the preamplifier stage of the award-winning EVO 400, the EVO 300 Hybrid uses two 12AU7 gain tubes and four 12AU7 driver tubes. The doubled drivers lower output impedance, helping produce wide dynamics, expansive imaging and rich harmonic detail.

Custom MOSFET Power Stage

Cascaded Linear Systems JFETs and two complementary pairs of custom Exicon MOSFETs per channel provide smooth, tube-like characteristics with excellent control. The amplifier delivers 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 160 watts per channel into 4 ohms.

Fully Dual-Mono Design

The left and right channels use separate power supplies and amplification circuits to improve channel separation and reduce interference. This architecture supports precise imaging, greater spatial depth and a cleaner musical presentation.

Sophisticated Power Supply

Three custom-wound, potted toroidal transformers provide dedicated power throughout the amplifier. Extensive internal shielding prevents noise from the main power supply from reaching the sensitive tube preamplifier stage.

Low-Noise LED Regulation

High-performance red LEDs are used as fast, low-noise diodes at critical points within the power supply. This gives individual circuits a clean and stable supply of electrical power while contributing to the amplifier’s low noise floor.

Transformer-Coupled Headphone Amplifier

Rather than relying on a standard op-amp chip, the EVO 300 Hybrid uses a transformer-coupled headphone output derived from its main amplification circuitry. It provides the power and control required for headphones from Audeze, HiFiMAN, Sennheiser and other leading brands.

Transformer-Coupled Subwoofer Output

The switchable stereo or mono subwoofer output takes its signal from the speaker output and reduces it to line level through a transformer-coupled circuit. This helps the subwoofer and main speakers retain the same sonic character for more coherent integration and stronger dynamics.

Premium Signal-Path Capacitors

Critical positions in the signal path use premium European-made tin-foil capacitors. Carefully selected components are also used throughout the remaining circuitry to maintain clarity, consistency and long-term performance.

Custom Toroidal Power Transformers

PrimaLuna’s toroidal transformers minimise magnetic radiation, vibration and acoustic noise. Each transformer is enclosed in metal and potted in non-microphonic resin to protect its windings from moisture and deterioration.

AC Offset Killer

PrimaLuna’s AC Offset Killer reduces transformer noise caused by irregularities in the mains supply. The quieter background helps reveal greater space, texture and natural decay throughout the music.

SuperQuiet Line Inputs

Premium sealed relays are positioned near the rear-panel inputs to create a short signal path. Only the selected input relay closes, while the others remain open to prevent unwanted signals and noise from entering the audio path.

Point-to-Point Wiring

The tube preamplifier signal path is meticulously hand-wired using heavy-gauge cable. Critical connections use Swiss-made, silver-plated OCC copper wire with a Teflon dielectric to preserve signal purity and clarity.

Premium Takman Resistors

Japanese-made Takman resistors are selected for their low noise, linearity and musical performance. These premium components form part of PrimaLuna’s uncompromising approach to construction and sound quality.

No Internal DAC

Keeping rapidly changing digital technology outside the amplifier allows you to select a separate DAC that suits your sources, system and budget. This modular approach also helps the amplifier remain relevant for years to come.

Optional Phono Stage

For vinyl playback, an optional belly-mounted phono stage can be installed in its own enclosure beneath the amplifier. This space-saving arrangement isolates the sensitive phono electronics to help minimise noise.
