What is Yamaha MusicCast?

Yamaha MusicCast is a multi-room audio system. Using your home’s WiFi network, Yamaha hardware that is compatible with MusicCast connects together and plays the same audio across different rooms. With everything controlled on the MusicCast app, customising your listening experience is easy. MusicCast is comprised of speakers, AV receivers, stereo amps, and more.

Can I install Yamaha MusicCast on my laptop?

While you can’t install MusicCast directly on a laptop, you can stream audio from your laptop to a compatible device using Bluetooth or AirPlay (on supported models). The MusicCast controller is designed for mobile devices and tablets only.

How do you make a second room in MusicCast?

To create a second room, set up another MusicCast-compatible device and add it through the MusicCast app. Once the new device is connected to your Wi-Fi, the app will guide you through naming the room and assigning it to your system. From there, you can play independent audio in that space or group it with your first room for whole-home listening. MusicCast is designed to scale easily – simply add more devices to build out your multi-room system.

What streaming services does MusicCast support?

MusicCast supports Spotify, Tidal, local music libraries, and more. You can also stream TV audio from a compatible Yamaha soundbar or receiver to other rooms in the house. Check your region and model for specific support.

Does MusicCast support lossless streaming?

With Spotify joining Tidal and Apple Music with lossless streaming options, enjoying a lossless listening experience is easier than before. MusicCast can output lossless quality, but this needs to be configured first in your music streaming app. Some devices may not support specific types of lossless quality.
