EMBRACING THE PAST TO ILLUMINATE THE FUTURE

The Sonus faber Maxima Amator brings traditional Italian craftsmanship together with modern acoustic engineering. As a two-way floorstanding loudspeaker featuring a solid walnut cabinet, it reflects the brand’s commitment to natural sound, refined materials and timeless design.

A DREAM DECADES IN THE MAKING

The Maxima Amator realises the ambition of creating a two-way floorstanding speaker built around a solid wood cabinet. Contemporary acoustic design and careful listening-based development come together to produce a speaker designed for expressive, natural musical reproduction.

MODERN INGENUITY WITH TIMELESS FINISH

Computer modelling supports the engineering process, while listening tests help refine the final tonal balance. This combination of technical precision and careful acoustic tuning aims to deliver a coherent, engaging presentation across a wide range of music.

A MULTI-FACETED CABINET

The cabinet is divided into three distinct chambers. The main acoustic chamber is optimised for the woofer, a second chamber adds mass to improve stability and reduce unwanted resonance, and a separate external chamber houses the crossover to isolate it from vibrations generated within the speaker.

CROSSING OVER INTO THE FUTURE

The Interactive Fusion Filtering (IFF) crossover is designed to integrate the tweeter and midwoofer into a coherent whole. By carefully managing the interaction between the drivers, it supports smooth, natural sound reproduction.

A CELEBRATION OF PRECIOUS MATERIALS

The Maxima Amator combines solid walnut with black leather, brass detailing and a Saint Laurent marble port. These materials give the speaker a distinctive appearance that reflects Sonus faber’s Italian design heritage.
